How to make 28 hours of a day

Thomas Alva Edison

For Him A Day Was Not Of 24 hours
Else He Would not have Achieved 1100 Inventions
But He Made His Day of 28 hours.

I Want To Show You How.

First this article is not for you if you -->

1. Sleep more than 7 hours a day (incl. weekends)
2. Listen to music or watch TV more than 2 hours a day
3. Spend time chatting with friends at tea stall for more than an Hour
4. Orkut more than 2 hours a day
5. Go to theatre or shopping mall more than once in a fortnight.

This article is must for you if you -->

1. Want to crack Competitive Exams like CAT, GRE, GMAT, GATE, XAT, SAT.
2. Want to crack Civil Services (IAS, IPS, IFS, etc).
3. Want to pursue your hobby like Music, Dance, and Painting along with Good performance in mainstream education.
4. Your dream is greater than your potential -- Your friends Think so.

I will discuss Three Golden Rules which according to me will help you - Do more than what you can do and Achieve more than what you always wanted to.

Rule #1  Multitasking

Rule is simple…Try to do two tasks at a time…. but some conditions apply. . Never attempt those two tasks in which any one of them requires cognitive skills…like poetry, music, studying, painting etc. The level of expected accuracy or efficiency in these tasks is infinity and thus should be done in single. There are other mundane tasks like SMSing, Chatting, Watching Movies, Watching Cricket, Listening Music, Drinking Tea/Coffee, Writing Records, Travelling in BUS/TRAIN and similar tasks which can always been done in conjunction. Many of you have been inadvertently doing multitasking now you have to make it deliberate and intentional. Those of you think that this logic is ineffective try it at the least, we shall discuss more if it fails.

To start with try learning SMSing without having a glance at your cell phone. Once you achieve that Multitasking while Messaging will become a cakewalk.

Rule #2  Steal Interstices of Time

It has been found that There lies a comfortable time gap between the works/tasks we do. . I am talking about stealing this time. Though it sounds strange…but this is how you will be able to achieve the impossible i.e Make Your Day of 28 hours . Just see around your day and you will find many such Interstices of Time. For example The Time when one lecturer leaves your classroom and other enters. You have to accept that even in best of colleges there’s a comfortable time gap (and in colleges like mine’s The gap sometimes stretches to ). The gap between you reach home and really start doing any task (whether study or watch TV). After the lunch/dinner and the task immediately done after that. In between your TV Time and BED Time.

To find out more Interstices of Time.. Observe your normal day and make the routine spanning (not in hours) but in every 5 minutes. For eg.

6:00 Wake-Up
6:00 – 6:05 Was just waking up.(*)
6:05 – 6:10 Brushing my Teeth.
6:10 – 6:15 Loitering just here and there.(*)
6:15 – 6:20 Metabolic Run Also called Nature's Call
- - - - - - -- - - - - - - - - - -- - - - - - - -- - - - - - - -------- - -- - - - - - -- - -- - - - -- -
6:00 – 6:05 Had Tea
6:05 – 6:15 Don’t know what I did ..just glancing around (*)
6:15 – 6:20 Went back to room.

Yah the list is going to be long but you need not make it daily. Just once. Scrutinize it and see how many 5 Min’s did you waste. In the example above I find 3 (Those will * symbols).

Rule #3  Rejuvenate for More Efficiency

Efficiency of work exponentially decreases with time.. So you must rejuvenate, re-energize & regenerate your potential. Do what works for you. Different people revitalize with different things. Some people like listening to soothing music, Some love to talk to their dear ones. Some love to fag, Some love to drink TEA/COFFEE Your’s truly . May be you can use some of the wasted 5 min’s to rejuvenate and revitalize. But remember not to get addicted to those AND STRICTLY AVOID TV OR CHAT it would stretch to .

The Million Dollar Question is How often should you take these short gaps?? It depends on your potential and what work you have been doing. May be 15 min to 1 hr. But you must take a break at the end of an hour. I know some people have ability to sit for long hours on a trot. This has to be avoided. TAKE A BREAK EVEN THOUGH YOU MAY FEEL OTHERWISE.. You may be tempted to save those little 5 min’s but ultimately you will give more hours in work due to decreased efficiency.

And as the Adage goes ONE WHO DOES NOT FIND TIME FOR FUN WILL ULTIMATELY COMPENSATE BY FINDING TIME FOR ILLNESS .
There could be more Rules…. May be you people have your own rules to Elongate Day, Work More and Achieve All . If you have any do let me know I would be happy to include them in Second Edition of This article.
Till then remember one thing All that was achieved was by work. Efficient time management would lead to more time to do more work. More work done would lead to more achievement. Thomas Alva Edison , achieved 1100 inventions (in one life time), only by making more hours a day than you know.

All The Best in your new Endeavor. And Happy making 28 Hours a Day.

An Apostle of Brilliance

On this day some years back a cub was born. Today he has grown into a Tiger, an exemplary genius. His ability to Walk with Kings nor lose the common touch (“IF” – Rudyard Kipling ) separates him from the rest. His friends are just proud to walk shoulder to shoulder with him. There’s an adage “You can Love him, You can Hate him But you can’t ignore him”, with him there’s only one way – “You can only love him”

INTRODUCTION

Welcome to life and times of Sumith Karun, Emperor of Generosity, King of Champions and Prince of Perseverance. This paean may sound exaggerated but those who know him will accord with me the verity of the fact. If you don’t know Sumith Karun, he will remain an enigma to you throughout the article which I will try to demystify.

The greatest mortal to walk on the aisles and corners of Bharath University is certain to have his name engrossed onto the chronicles of the University. Generations of Students to come will scarcely believe that person like Sumith Karun walked in the University in Flesh and Blood. (Similar to Einstein’s Quote on Mahatma Gandhi)

ACHIEVEMENTS

Whether it was Scoring Perfect 10/10 GPA or Cracking MAT with 97.28 Percentile , Sumith Karun has proved his Genius in all front. Whether it was getting placed in Wipro or his previous employers, he has triumphed in his First Attempts (A virtuoso who requires no second chance). In spite of all these neither he has any arrogance nor high-handedness over it. It is due to his sheer virtue and candid nature.

FUTURE

A Nonpareil (Eminent beyond or above comparison, unequalled) in making, this wizard is in a position to dictate his future than just follow. As Iqbal said in his poetry खुद हि को कर बुलन्द इत्त्ना कि हर तक्दिर से पेहले, खुदा बन्दे से खुद पुछे बता तेरी रज़ा क्या है | Make yourself so strong that before God decides your future he will ask for your opinion . His determination stands so high and eminent that no hurdles can stop him from conquering his dreams… लगे रहो सुमी, लगे रहो .

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU

October 11 , (same month as Gandhiji’s birth ) . This is my Birthday Gift to him. I request you all to wish Sumith Karun on his Birth Day and also wish him all the best for his CAT exam on November 18, 2007, for which he has diligently prepared . At last I am modifying one of the most popular song by Girija Mathur (The song translated to most number of languages in the world, 134 precisely) to Dedicate it to him………..

This is for you Sumi

तुम होगे कामयाब

तुम होगे कामयाब
तुम होगे कामयाब
तुम होगे कामयाब एक दिन
मन में है विश्वास, पूरा है विश्वास
तुम होंगे कामयाब एक दिन

You Shall Overcome
You Shall Overcome
You Shall Overcome One Day
Deep in my heart, I do believe
You Shall Overcome One Day

Sumi Another One for you--------

You are a Falcon (King of Aves), be destined to soar the high sky.
You reside at Rocks of High Mountains.
You are not doomed to lowly branches of trees.
